Why evaluate?

Evaluating sources is critical when working at the college level.  You need to be using high-quality, authoritative sources in your research to give your work more credibility.  Most of the library's tools, such as the catalog and the article databases, will lead you to authoritative sources, but you still need to be able to evaluate information found in the library and on the free web.

In this guide we've split up the evaluation process based on type of material you're looking to evaluate.

1. Books

2. Journal Articles

3. Web Sources
